Welcome Banquet

Date/Time: Monday July 25, 2011 / 18:00 – 20:30
Venue: Grand Hall, the Empress Convention Centre
A variety of Thai traditional performance will also be shown during welcome Banquet.

Full day trip for registered accompanying persons

Half day Morning Cooking Class, Lunch and visiting Handicraft village
Date/Time: Wednesday July 27, 2011, 08:00 -17:00
All the courses begin with morning activities such as shopping at the local market, and introduction to Thai ingredients, paste making or vegetable carving. After the morning activities, the participants will be taught to cook 4 dishes. A Chef or highly qualified instructors will demonstrate each dish. Staff will also give some unique tips about alternative cooking methods and substitutes throughout the demonstrations. The participants will then cook each dish themselves and the instructors will be on hand to help and guide them through the process with step-by-step instructions. Once the participants have completed 4 dishes in the morning, the dishes will be served as lunch. After lunch, a visit to handicraft villages has been scheduled. You will visit the local factories such as umbrella making center, Thai silk factory, Silverware factory, woodcarving, lacquer ware, and many more at your own choice.

Conference Dinner

Date/Time: Thursday July 28, 2011 / 18:00 – 21:30
Venue: Khum Khantoke
he venue of the dinner will be at Khum Khantoke. Conference dinner will be in Northern style with some performance. Transportation will be provided for all participants and guests. More details will be announced during the meeting.


Full day excursions on Friday July 29, 2011 for registered participants, exhibitors and accompanying persons are now available in 3 different trips. Due to logistic reasons, limited numbers of space are available for each trip; please sign up at the registration desk (first-come, first-served basis).

Trip No. 1 Doi Inthanon

Time: 08:00 - 17:30 (max 80 persons)

Embark to Doi Inthanon National Park, Thailand's highest summit at 2,565 metres above sea level. Enjoy the faunas and floras at Ang-ka, nature walking trail then visit Princess Sirindhorn Neutron Monitor. A visit to the construction site of the Thai National Observatory (TNO) has been scheduled right after that. Lunch is served at Doi Inthanon National Park Headquarters restaurant. Shortly after lunch break, a visit to pay homage to the great pagodas, erected to commemorate the fifth cycle birthdays of their Majesties the King and the Queen, is also expected. Before the end of the trip, refresh and rejuvenate yourself at one of the waterfalls in Doi Inthanon National Park on the way back to Chiang Mai.

Trip No.2 City temples, Wat Prathat Doi Suthep & Home Industry

Time: 08:30 – 17:00

Morning Visits of Chiang Mai's famous and historic monasteries with their distinctive northern style, including Wat Phra Singh, Wat Chedi Luang, all dated back to the 14th and 15th centuries. Then visit Wat Prathat Doi Suthep, a highly revered temple, containing a holy relic of the Lord Buddha, located on Suthep summit: Doi Suthep (~ 1,056 metres above sea level). It affords splendid views of the city and surrounding countryside. Lunch buffet is provided after the morning session. After lunch buffet, a journey to Home Industry will follow. At the Home Industry-the handicraft village of San Kam pang, you will visit the renowned local factories such as umbrellas making centre, jewelry factory, Thai silks production centre, silverware, woodcarving, lacquer ware etc.

Trip No.3 Full day Elephant Camp

Time: 08:00 – 17:00 (max 200 persons)

Embark to the Mae Ta Maan elephant camp to experience the elephants, taking their morning bath before giving a demonstration of how they were trained to haul lumber in the forest. Afterwards take a ride on elephant back through the forest and across streams, and ox-cart riding will be enjoyed, passing by rice fields and small farms. After lunch, take an exciting bamboo-raft trip down the Mae Tang River. On the way back to Chiang Mai, a visit to a delightful orchid and butterfly farm will be available for you enjoyment.
